“Dear Colleagues,
I had the pleasure of being a Vice-President of the European Parliament since 2017. Being the first Vice-President of Roma origin, it was a great honour for me and my people that I could represent them in such a high position.
As Vice-President I was responsible for the region of Western Balkan. In this capacity I have participated in numerous conferences and visited the region in order to help the enlargement aspirations of the countries of the region.
Furthermore, I was the Chair of the Audit Panel, which is the body responsible for ensuring that the work of the Internal Audit Service is properly taken into account by the services of the European Parliament.
In addition, I was also the Vice-President in charge of access to documents. In the last year, the EP granted the access to requested documents in 96% of the cases. No other institution has such a high award rate. It was an honour for me to be part of keeping the Parliament a top transparent institution.
I was also Member of the Working Group on Buildings, Transport and Green Parliament, the Chancellery of the European Citizens’ Prize and the High-Level Group on Gender Equality and Diversity fighting for the equality and diversity of all staff within the EP.
In addition there are numerous topics close to my heart, such as the protection and respect of our environment, social justice, fighting against poverty with better tools, making real difference by taking practical steps in improving the lives of those in need (by establishing job opportunities near the poor settlements, building schools and engaging children in sport).
I am convinced that if given the opportunity to continue my work as a Vice-President, I could be an added-value of the Bureau, enforcing European values and work on the open issues for a better Europe and a better European Parliament.
I would ask for your support in tomorrow’s vote. Should you have any question I am gladly at your disposal in order to discuss my vision.
Thank you.
Kind regards,
Lívia Járóka”
